They are shallow and can therefore easily dry out in summer. As a consequence, the living organisms in a pond must have strategies to cope with changing water levels and temporary drying. The vegetation is thus often characterised by moisture-loving grasses and so-called \u201eamphibious\u201c plants. The latter are able to adapt their growth form to the water level and can thus develop into terrestrial, marsh or aquatic plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shallow pond water heats up quickly and thus forms a popular spawning ground for many amphibians. In addition, the tadpoles can develop here from the spawn without their biggest natural enemies, the fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure data-wp-context=\"{&quot;imageId&quot;:&quot;69e8ec1d41030&quot;}\"
