Park, charge, rent
The solar carports, featuring system-integrated charging columns, were officially inaugurated in 2020. They are a key components of the Zero-Emission Mobility Centre, which aims to provide flexible and sustainable mobility solutions for the rural region alongside climate-friendly electricity generation. Notable off erings include car-sharing services with electric vehicles.
The solar carports supply electricity to the Environmental Campus and support the charging of electric vehicles. Additional charging stations are distributed across the campus and at the Neubrücke train station. Both solar carports and e-car-sharing vehicles are accessible to all users.
For context, an electric vehicle charged with solar energy saves approximately 72% of final energy and reduces CO2 emissions by about 97% compared to a gasoline-powered vehicle. This underscores the significant contribution of electromobility to climate protection goals, aligning with both European and German climate targets.
Solar carports
- makes e-mobility almost CO 2-neutral.
- enable – with fast charging stations – charging in approx. 15 minutes for a driving range of approx. 100 km.
- store – with battery storage – unused energy for days with little sunshine.
- generate electricity there where it is needed.
